Dear CSA Members,

School is out and our lives are once again busy with young people!  We are so thankful for our nieces and nephews who have chosen to help us out on the farm.  They are great pickers, sorters, baggers, and weed pullers (most days).  If you see them about on the farm, please thank them for their incredible work!

We hope that you have been able to enjoy the recent thunderstorms.  We have not.  So far, the rain has passed us by.  Our gardens are starting to show signs of the dry weather.  Pray with us for the God of the Harvest to send us some rain.  We will begin irrigating this week, but we can only irrigate a portion of the crops.

Thanks for all the wonderful feed-back!  You have been very encouraging.  It is good to hear how happy so many of you are with what we are doing.

We will be purchasing pigs fairly soon.  We buy piglets to raise each year, but we only buy enough to fill orders.  You can order pork by the half or whole.  As with all the animals on the farm, they are only fed certified organic feed from the farm.

Chicken will be butchered the end of the month.  If you would like organically raised chicken, please place your order now.  You can buy them whole or cut, but they all come ready to be cooked (in other words, you don’t need to clean them).  We are able to freeze them to be picked up on your regular day.  They cost $2.00 per pound for whole birds, and $2.25 per pound for cut birds.  Contact us by calling 988-3484, or emailing rshaffer1@localnet.com.
